Merry Christmas Stress Relief Counseling

Holidays should be about relaxation and joy, but for many people, these days are the most stressful periods of the year, with tension caused by all the coming and going in the house as well as by the wish to prepare the perfect dishes and to be the perfect entertainer and host. Fortunately, there are many things that you can do to reduce that stress – here are some:

  • Stick to healthy habits – what we eat and drink influences our ability to manage stress. Introducing the right nutrients makes us calmer and more relaxed, while increased consumption of alcohol and sugars will only make our nerves more tense. Taste everything on your holiday menu, but in moderation and take the time to go on a long walk every day to maintain a calm attitude;
  • Don’t let anyone compromise your balance – it is impossible to please everyone, but a difficult relative or a remark that hurts should not influence your state of mind. Balance is difficult to maintain, not impossible;
  • Do not exhaust yourself – staying up to cook and to clean until the small hours for days takes its tolls on the nerves. To avoid that, try to start all the cooking and cleaning early and enlist help from your friends or family – you don’t have to do it all by yourself.  If needed get help from https://kraigcounseling.com/ to work through stressful times.
